IDC Women’s Alumni Forum

JUN 29,2016

The IDC Women’s Alumni Forum was held on Wednesday, June 22nd at IDC Herzliya, in the presence of about 100 alumnae. Prof. Uriel Reichman, President and Founder of IDC Herzliya, greeted the audience and said: “During your studies at IDC, you have absorbed the spirit of entrepreneurship and the willingness to proceed and realize yourself. I see it at every opportunity I meet IDC graduates. Do not agree with the distortions or discriminations – the world is yours”.

The evening continued with short TED style lectures of two IDC alumnae, pioneers in their field, Roni Sendik, alumna at Arison School of Business and director of WeWork Israel;   Commander Merav Lapidot, Alumna of MBA at Arison School of Business IDC, whom was appointed a few months ago as spokesperson of the Israeli Police. “It doesn’t matter where you come from, where you were born and who your parents are. Believe in yourself. Networking is very important whilst building a career. Each being is a world of content. How is this done? I have learned that you can learn something from everyone, to maintain a relationship, to be there for others, and they will most likely be there for you too in the future.”

This was followed by a panel discussion on “taking responsibility of our financial security”, which was attended by Esther Barak Landes, Founder CEO of Nielsen Innovate Fund; Ela Alkalay, chairman of IBI portfolio management; Hilla Ovil-Brenner, serial entrepreneur, CEO at Gling, Founder of “Yazamiyot” and Tel Aviv campus for mothers. The participants discussed, among other issues, negotiating at work places, the gaps in income and the challenges facing women that want to start a family. Ela Alkalay: “Risks are equivalent to money. Options, Trade off shares, whether increasing the current income or turning out as something significant in an existing future, if possible in the right business; the risk is sometimes worth it”.

Actress Nelly Tagar concluded the evening with a humorous and feminine discussion on the challenges that face women in the entertainment world – not even one of the Forum members remained indifferent.

The IDC Women’s Alumni Forum was created by three IDC alumnae –Shay Bronstein-Regev, Noy Elroy and Roni Sendik on January 2016 under the IDC Alumni Association, headed by Dr. Adi Kol, who serves as Dean of Students and graduates, and Yair Itzhar Belachovsky, IDC Alumni and voluntary Chairman of the organization. The forum unites hundreds of alumnae who are all active partners.
