Liora and Menachem Sternberg Auditorium Inauguration
IDC Herzliya hosted an event to inaugurate The Liora and Menachem Sternberg’ auditorium.
The event was attended by the honorary guests: Mr. and Mrs. Sternberg, Prof. Uriel Reichman, president and founder of IDC Herzliya, staff members, family and friends.
Menachem Sternberg is a pivotal figure in the world of finance and has over 30 years of experience as an economist and an investor in international markets. Mr. Sternberg has an impressive record of achievements and his reputation precedes him in Israel and around the world as an economic advisor and a respected financial expert.
Along with his wife Liora, Mr. Sternberg works to promote educational and cultural organizations in Israel and the United States. They have granted scholarships to underprivileged students at IDC Herzliya. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Sternberg have been friends and significant supporters of IDC Herzliya. They are firm believers and promoters of its goals and values. In 2012 Mr. Sternberg was granted the title of “Honorary Fellow†of IDC Herzliya as a sign of appreciation for his significant contribution to IDC throughout the years.
In his speech, Prof. Reichman stated: “When you look at a man’s accomplishments you often forget the path that has led him there. We are aware of the fact that for you, Menachem, the path was not always easy, your work on developing knowledge and technology in your field on which you have worked on all these years, is a massive and continuous road that has not yet ended and will probably continue for generations to come. Many economics claim that throughout your pioneering ways, you were able to change markets behavior and yet you remained humble and true to your honorable ways.
We are proud to have you and Liora, who always stood by your side, here at IDC Herzliya and we are glad to have your names bonded forever with the IDC heritage. I am certain that your accomplishments will be reflected throughout the lectures that will be given here at the auditorium that is named after you.
This is a time of great challenges for the Israeli society and for those who aspire to build the future Israeli leadership, it is vital to have the support of true friends like youâ€.
During the ceremony Mr. Sternberg stated: “Our relationship with IDC Herzliya has begun 20 years ago, when Prof. Reichman invited us to be a part of this masterpiece that to this day, still continues to grow and develop.
The way I see it, IDC Herzliya represents the best of Israel. The virtue ofIDC Herzliya is its vision and achievements, integrating different sectors and communities of the Israeli population. That is something we wish to see more of at the Israeli society.
Prof. Reichman and his staff here at IDC Herzliya, are true ambassadors for the wonderful and positive things Israel has to offer to the world. We can see it through the international programs and the wonderful partnerships that IDC had groomed with different universities around the world. I see IDC as a place for knowledge and even more so, for values.
We are proud to be a part of the IDC Herzliya familyâ€.
Following the ceremony, Prof. Ron Shachar, a lecturer and researcher at Arison School of Business at IDC Herzliya, held a lecture on “Chaos Management†which addressed the different challenges managers face today.
